9 - REFERENCES WHAT 'AND HOW TO BUILD A BIUBLIOGRAFIA?
1) The bibliography is a list of texts (books, articles, miscellaneous, etc..) Which are given all relevant information (author, title, publisher, date and place of release).
2) It is located generally at the end of a book and the reader need to know the sources of the author and to deepen their knowledge of the topic in question.
3) There different types of literature:
- bibliography of works by the author (eg list of all the writings in volume and in magazines, Giuseppe Ungaretti) and may contain subsections: Poetry, Fiction, Drama, Essay, etc.).
- critical bibliography (eg list of all books, essays and articles written about Ungaretti)
- Bibliography of works consulted (list of all the works of general use in the production of a thesis (essay, article, etc.) Ungaretti, but not directly related to the author: manuals, poetry, books of contemporary history, studies of metric).
As is mentioned in a text a bibliography
1) If you quote a volume of a single author:
N. SURNAME, title, place of publication, publisher, date of publication.
Example:
L. Pirandello, The Late Mattia Pascal , Torino, Einaudi, 1958.
2) If you quote a text within a miscellany (collection of texts by different authors: eg. Proceedings of a conference), it goes like this:
N. SURNAME, Title , in AA. VV., title, by ... ... ...., Place, publisher, date, pp.
Example:
L. Pirandello, Six Characters in Search of an Author, in AA. VV., 900 Theatre, Milan, Mondadori, 1978, pp. 230-290.
3) If you quote a text within a collection by the same author, it goes like this:
N. SURNAME, Title , in Id [Ditto] title, location, publisher, date, pp.
Example:
G. Ungaretti, Port buried in Id, life of a man. All poems, edited by L. Piccioni, Milan, Mondadori, 1971, p. 34.
4) If you quote a magazine article, it goes like this:
N. SURNAME, title, "journal title" city (Not always there), year, file number, date, pages.
Example:
G. Ungaretti, symbolist poetry, "The Literary Fair", Florence, a. III, No. 5, 1934, pp. 4-6; republish. in Id, life of a man. essays and speeches, Milan, Mondadori, 1985, pp. 234-290.
