Head Banged With A Table

2 - COLLECTION AND GENERATION OF IDEAS

[operations preparatory to writing an argumentative text]
Filing of documentary sources

1) Read the document carefully and select the most important information;
2) Please give details of the documentary source: author, title of text (newspaper article / story / essay, etc..), date and place of publication, publisher, page numbers;
3) Explain the content of the document on a card, especially by using keywords and brief quotations;
4) Rewrite, where it will be useful, whole chunks of text (paragraphs and / or paragraphs), taking care to use the quotation marks and indicate the num. page.

COLLECTION OF IDEAS

List disorderly

1) The list of ideas is a sequence of key words and short term: the order is random and also their relationships
2) It builds on the sheet listing the bulk of the ideas that comes to mind as
3) It is important to include in the list even ideas that at first sight, seem trivial, there may be useful later.
4) It is important to write everything at once. Never postpone the endorsement of an idea, then forget it soon!
5) It is often necessary to reread the list: re-reading helps generate new ideas.

Bunch associative

1) is constructed by writing to the center of a large sheet of paper and placing the subject at around it, radiating, the ideas that come to mind by association (associative mechanism: sun-heat-light-yellow, etc.).

flow of writing:

1) You can choose to start immediately to draw up a "text" building periods and complete sentences
2) can be useful because it helps to clarify ideas and to overcome the fear of the blank sheet
3) Caution: the final product is not a text, it's just an accumulation of materials
4) The flow of writing is characterized by speed of execution: it just re-read what you write, there is not always consistent between the parties, there may be many repetitions and unnecessary parts: it does not matter! But we must not forget that we are in the pre-writing and even writing

GENERATION OF IDEAS

are generated by adding new ideas to those we already have several others that are generated through associative mechanisms.

Example:
Italy immigration
[argumentative text]

Types of membership:

- by analogy:
immigrants, today, are in Italy / Italians, in past, have emigrated abroad
- on the contrary:
the immigrants that are caught are in Italy / Italians who emigrated in the past in Germany and Argentina were semi-literate
- To cause:
in 1991 thousands of Albanians have come to Italy because =, influenced by the media, thought that Italy was a rich country.
- consequently:
immigrants arrived in Italy of many different ethnic groups = accordingly in the next few years, Italy has become a multi-ethnic country
- exemplification through statistics, interviews, etc..: Foreigners enrolled in Italian universities are about 20%, in particular the Faculty of Languages, Univ. "Orientale" of Naples, on ... ... ... ..., although they are often bright students have difficulty in the written tests. ..., Etc..
- personal experience (if any): I have an Albanian friend who attends the course with me ...
